I don't take her revelation entirely at face value, but I have no problem believing she actually was asking the questions as research rather than desire to learn. I don't think she was falsifying the attitude of the post; I think she was falsifying those comments where it appeared she was willing to listen and learn.
It might just be the result of my own experience that there are plenty of people who ask for reasons other than curiosity and the desire to learn - not necessarily to the extent of that particular fail, but I've seen more than once someone asking not because they want to learn from the answer, but because once they have an answer it's one more thing they can attack and attempt to pull apart. Or so they can say "oh, yeah, I felt exactly like that when [x] happened to me! See, it's totally the same thing!"
But you have a point, it was poor wording to say "the problem", because that isn't the only one nor is it even the most important; the unchecked privilege inherent in the questioning is the biggest problem.
