The advantages of a well-stocked pantry

So I realized as I was going home that I had "nothing" for dinner tonight. I pondered a few possibilities, and ended up stopping at the IGA on my way. I picked up a couple of things I forgot on my last grocery run, as well as a chicken breast (this was an emergency, so nothing organic or environmentally friendly, I'm afraid).

Came home, dealt with a problem with my email (Sympatico keeps randomly changing settings, forcing me to call tech support every few months, damn their eyes), and then turned my attention to dinner.

A quick glance through my pantry allowed me to toss together a quick-and-dirty version of curry chicken: a bit of olive oil, one onion, chicken broth, the aforementioned chicken breast, and green peas for colour. It was tasty and quick, and I have leftovers.

So now an "emergency" in my household no longer means buying pre-made food. It just means grabbing a chicken breast or equivalent, and seeing what I can throw together out of the pantry. I am quite pleased with myself, because this is NOT how I used to live.

Nifty

It's amazing how a well-stocked pantry can lift the morale. I just re-organized the whole pantry in order to maximize my usage of space, put my cans in order of date purchased, and re-arranged all my Tupperware to fit nicely and to look good.

I also re-located my worm bin, and arranged various containers of cat food, oil, etc.

Suddenly my pantry looks inviting and cozy, and it only took about 20 minutes.

I rock like a rocking thing.
